Our pastor is a native of Calhoun, GA, and is married to the former Deborah Jean McClure. They have been married for 31 years and have five children: Shana, Anthony, Tiphanie, Chazera, and Justin, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Pastor Harris is a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Over the years, he has received numerous awards and recognition in the community. After graduating from Calhoun High School, Pastor Harris obtained his bachelor's degree from The Life Underwriters Training Council. After answering his call to ministry in 1996, he enrolled in The Covington Theological Seminary in Rossville, GA, earning his Master of Theology degree. Before becoming TBK's pastor, Pastor Harris served faithfully as the Children's Minister, Youth Pastor, and Assistant Pastor at our sister church, Thankful Baptist Church of Rome, GA. On December 28th, 2003, during our 1st Church Anniversary, our founder Rev. Nim B. Russell, installed Assistant Pastor John W. Harris and Evangelist Deborah J. Harris as Pastor and First Lady of Thankful Baptist Church of Kennesaw. Under the Leadership of our Pastor, TBK has grown from 8 members to 250 members. On August 18th, 2011, God allowed, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to lead our Pastor, along with the members of TBK, to purchase our 1st piece of property, which consisted of 5.59 Acres, and the development of a 3000 square ft. worship facility, and in less than a year later we are preparing to break ground on the expansion of our present Worship Facility, and Fellowship Hall /Life Center. In addition to what God's doing through our Pastor, he still has time to serve as the GMBC 7th District President. Pastor Harris also serves on the Board of directors for the Through Our Hearts Foundation, in conjunction with the Kennesaw Police Department, to aid as a networking source for those in distress. Our Pastor serves as Co-Chair alongside our 1stlady Evangelist Harris, Who serves as the Chair for the City of Kennesaw's 1stever, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Celebration Committee.
